It’s been a while since we had a meeting. Let’s start off the new year getting together. I am thinking Jan. 7 looks like a good potential date. We will stream the meeting again online and post a recording of it on YouTube as well, so no need to be here in person. However, you are always welcome if you can make it!

I am excited to announce our next user group meeting! This time around, we will focus on Wakanda. I recently had the good fortune to come into contact with Wakanda Customer Support Team Leader, Saad Mousliki. You can find several Wakanda demo videos by Saad on Youtube and check out some of his projects on Git. Given that he will be joining us from Morocco for a 30 minute demo, we will be meeting early at 11:00 AM Central on April 3. As usual, we will stream the meeting online. We have all seen the considerable progress that 4D has been making in building Wakanda, however how does one connect a legacy 4D database with a Wakanda server? Josh will walk us through his recent experience doing so for a client and give us some pro tips for Wakanda development.

We had a great first meeting this week! We fired up the web cams, ordered some pizza, and settled in to see what the good folks over at 4D had to show us. Specifically, Josh Fletcher presented an overview of some of the new features in 4D v13, and Tom Miller gave an interesting talk about Wakanda‘s functionality and placement in the industry.
It was pretty cool be able to have such a direct conversation with some of the top technical staff and decision makers at 4D. And I was very encouraged by their evident support of our group and their excitement for its potential in serving our community.
I know some of us are looking forward to meeting up at the 4D Summit in San José, CA on October 24th. We are thinking about having our next meeting sometime in November to recap some of the summit news. Again we will be streaming it live online, but next time we might give Google Hangouts a try. Check it out and let us know if you think it would work well for our purposes.
