Tribute to Norman Kinsey

We can thank Norman Kinsey for helping to shape what became the 4DMethod user group. Some of us in the 4D community knew Norm as the owner of Fourth Generation Systems, a 4D development company since the first days of 4D. In 2012, Norm joined me as a developer at the Art Institute of Chicago and we became fast friends.

Norm had previously been active in the Chicago Windy City in-person 4D user group, and we discussed restarting the group since it was no longer meeting. Norm had the idea to turn what used to be an excuse to get together, drink beers and talk shop into an online web-ex style of a meeting to have a wider, more professional appeal. So that is what we did!

Norm had a deep love of 4D programming and was #1 fan of every presenter who has spoken in the user group. Norm was fascinated with where you can find 4D systems in the world, what they are doing and who made that happen. I am fortunate to have known this lovely man as a friend and a colleague.

Sadly, Norm passed away this year (2023). Please join me in giving a warm cheers to Norm and send him some good energy up there in 4D developer heaven 🙂
