Your 4D code is the key to Intelligence: the 4D Agentic Framework – Ricardo Mello and Mohamed Idrissi
We are all seeing in real time how quickly the world of AI moves. Every aspect of our digital lives are now tied in some way to this new technology, so our 4D applications should be as well!
Last year in the session 4D AI Platform, we already got a sneak peak at how one can add a chat window in a 4D application that interprets user prompts to call tools made available to the AI Agent via 4D AIKit functionality. Since then, 4D has rolled up that capability into a new component you can now use to offer the same impressive interface to your users. Welcome to the 4D Agentic Framework!
The 4D Agentic Framework puts AI agents inside the application you already run, without rebuilding it. Through a friendly administrative interface, you register your own existing methods with descriptions of their usage for AI agents to call them when necessary. Then your users can access the full power of your app through a friendly and familiar chat interface while respecting all necessary guardrails. You can even use your own local models to run the 4D Agentic Framework so that your private data and functionality stays private.
In this session:
- What an “agent” really is, and why it changes how users work with business applications
- The architecture: how the framework sits next to your 4D code, and how your existing methods become tools the agent can call
- Live demo: a real 4D application answering plain-language questions
- Your choice of AI model: a local model on your own server, or a cloud model (GPT, Claude, Gemini)
- Keeping data safe and token costs down
- Q&A
