Full Database Insight Through the Lens of a Single Method – Bruno Raeymaekers
While the graphical interface of the 4D database structure is great for getting an overview of the existing tables and fields, once you get to over a hundred tables, it can be awkward to find out certain details like endpoints of relations and definitions of composite indices. Good thing we have the 4D language and flexible interface capabilities to add new perspective to complicated application data structures!
In this user group meeting, Bruno Raeymaekers will give us a fresh look at all the details of your database structure.
In addition to the structure inspector itself, a second part of the presentation will focus on how this user interface is built. With all the new tools 4D has introduced in the last couple of years, such as the Form object, the Form Event object, and Dynamic forms just to name a few, you could ask yourself if you could approach the structure of your development in a different way now than how you have been doing this for years.
All of the functionality shown in the presentation comes from one method that holds all the 4D code for parsing the catalog.4DCatalog file, creating the collections for the list boxes, the code to build the form, the form method, and all the object methods. Bruno will certainly show you a few new tricks for how to think differently in your 4D development!
